Day 2 - Journet to Phuket

We arrived at Bangkok at 4pm local time and transferred to the local Phuket flight. The airport was so hot and sticky, we were dripping with sweat very quickly! In Phuket we were picked up by a car and driven the 30 minutes transfer to the Banyan Tree resort. On arrival, we were speechless! The lobby was so beautiful, everything was so luxurious, lit by candles. The staff are so friendly, they bring you water and refreshing towels that had obviously been kept in the freezer. Everything was decorated with purple orchids. They drove us to our room in a golf buggy (which we were told we could phone to drive us around any time we wanted!) The room was spectacular as well.

We had dinner in the Saffron restaurant, which was very nice, but similar to UK prices which we weren't expecting. We then had some cocktails in the hotel bar, which was next to this lovely water feature that ran the length of the bar. It was really hot and stuffy, but the cocktails were nice and refreshing! There was also a massive rain storm with thunder and lightning, but unfortunately it didn't freshen the air that much!

I didn't sleep very well that night as I think I was still on UK time. But also, ther was a massive cockroach running about before we went to bed. I managed to sweep it out the door, but of course I was having dreams about it being in the bed when ever I turned the light off!
