Robertson Family Reunion 2009

The month of January, since 2003, has been the time of year when the Robertson family descends upon some unsuspecting hotel somewhere in the UK. This year, it was decided that Hawick should accommodate us. Instead of a hotel, we were in a Christian Retreat, which was a lovely house in the middle of nowhere, meaning we could make as much noise as we wanted. And when the Robertsons get together, that means a LOT of noise!

My highlight was the attempt made on Saturday night to play a game of "Mafia" - a slightly more complicated version of wink murder. It descended into a flurry of accusations and shouting (all good humoured of course). The problem with my dad's brothers is that none of them can be quiet and listen to the others, they all have to shout at once, which means that they have to get louder and louder to make themselves heard. It's hilarious!

Lots of fun was had by all

999 Emergency... party

Jaqi and Dunkan host a fantastic New Year's party every year, the theme always being something to do with the number of the approaching new year. This year was "2009 999 Emergency". After much thought, we decided to dress as the cast of the hit tv comedy Scrubs. See if you think we pulled it off...

The party was a lot of fun, and full of very imaginative emergency services.

There was a CSI lady.....

A mountain rescuer...

The game of operation plus a surgeon to play it....

And an emergency minister!

I'm not entirely sure that you'd manage to get all these emergency services if you dialled 999, (particularly the minister) but 10 points are awarded for imagination.

Our Christmas

Seeing as we've made no posts since September, I feel it should be our new year resolution to update our blog a bit more regularly. I'm going to use the festive season as something exciting to write about.

I was working Christmas day unfortunately, and Colin was also on
call, so potentially could have spent the whole of Christmas on the phone to work. It did work out very nicely for both of us however!

I spent the morning at work wearing hilarious reindeer a
ntlers and trying to convince my confused patient that it was infact Christmas day. My persuasive skills were not so sharp however, as he refused to believe me, or accept the present we tried to give him.
After a huge buffet lunch we continued our work in the afternoon, but at 3.30pm the charge nurse came over and said I was being set free! (I had to take a few hours holiday for it, but that was ok!!!)

Colin and his parents were on the way back from Fife, where th
ey were visiting Dunk's parents, so they swung past the hospital to pick me up. And by 4pm we were opening presents and sipping Prosecco. Very nice!

Boxing day was our real Christmas as we thought we wouldn't have a proper one on Christmas day! Jaqi put on a real feast for us...

And we went for a lovely walk around the Braid Hill
s....

Then unfortunately, Dunk started to tell a really dull story about a computer...!

Happy Christmas to one and all :)
